The last few years haven’t been great. I’ve had some good things happen – like buying a new house, taking a once-in-a-lifetime trip to cruise the mediterranean, and some big successes at work. I’ve also experienced some pretty hard challenges – a divorce and end to a relationship I thought would last forever, a tough surgery for my kiddo that required a lot of pain (for him), worry (for me) and travel (for both of us), and less than stellar personal wellness. It’s so easy to quit taking care of yourself the way you know you should when you’re sad, stressed, lonely, or busy.
But now it’s day 1 of 2025 and it’s time to let go of the old and ring in the new! It’s time to turn the corner and set a path forward. I’m turning 50 this year, and I want to spend the year celebrating all the things I’ve been through, all the things I’ve already done, and make sure I never quit seeking out new adventures and opportunities! I want to always CHOOSE HAPPY!
I have so many ideas of things I want to do. No New Year’s Resolutions this year, just a laundry list of experiences, activities, adventures, and challenges (in no particular order):
- Start a blog to track adventures, tell my story, and hold myself accountable (DONE!)
- Organize my house
- Buy a camper/RV and visit as many US states as I can
- Spend more time kayaking and hiking
- Find healthy foods that aren’t boring or hard to make
- Write my history in small doses
- Exercise more often
- Find a hobby
- Volunteer somewhere that I’m passionate about
- Teach my dog a new trick
- Read a new book every month
- Take a 30 day break from social media (excluding this site)
- Learn Japanese
- Redo the flower beds in front of my house
- Ride roller coasters at as many theme parks as I can
- Join a club
- Date? This one is a maybe…
Hopefully I’ll keep adding to this list, but I think this is a pretty good start for now. HAPPY NEW YEAR to you and yours! I hope you turn the page on 2024 too, and start 2025 with a new spirit and new goals, and maybe a new favorite blog to read!
